The Italian composer and violinist Arcangelo Corelli, (1653- 1713) was commissioned by Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni of Rome to compose this Concerto Grosso. The score is inscribed with the words Fatto per la notte di Natale, which translates to Made for the night of Christmas.The serene Pastorale is the last of the 6 movement piece. It is gentle and flowing, ending on a pianissimo G Major arpeggio.This is a beautiful piece to play for Christmas concerts and church services. It has a gorgeous melody with colorful chords and is a very playable arrangement. Pedal changes and fingerings are written in. 4 pages of music, 6 pages total.
